Biography

Andrew B. Mariano is a licensed chemist with graduate courses in chemistry. Prior to joining Federis & Associates Law Office, he worked for an analytical service laboratory where he specialized in the physicochemical analysis of potable and waste water. He also managed a start-up analytical laboratory affiliated with the university where he took his graduate courses. As an analytical chemist, Mr. Mariano is knowledgeable in different analytical techniques as well as analytical instruments.

Prior to joining Federis and Associates Law Office, Mr. Mariano also engaged in patent-related work, initially as patent abstractor and later as patent specialist for a boutique Intellectual Property law firm. He was responsible for filing and prosecuting local and foreign patent applications for major clients in multiple fields of technology, notably the following: chemistry, chemical technology, biotechnology, food and agriculture, cosmetics, automobiles, electronics, and general engineering.

Responsibilities

At Federis, Mr. Mariano practices intellectual property in the area of patents, industrial designs, and utility models.

Mr. Mariano’s main responsibilities include filing and prosecuting patent applications, preparing letters-advice to clients concerning Office Actions issued by the Bureau of Patents, preparing and filing responses to such Office Actions, docketing outstanding substantive issues and formalities for compliance, and analyzing and processing incoming and outgoing correspondence. He is also knowledgeable in conducting patent searches, evaluating and analyzing search results, and providing freedom to operate opinions.

Education

Mr. Mariano earned his degree in Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of the Santo Tomas. He also finished graduate courses in Chemistry from the University of the Santo Tomas.
