Kathleen Mae C. Alfaro is a licensed chemist. Prior to joining Federis & Associates Law Office, she worked for an abstracting company. She was responsible for preparing abstracts of patents related to Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Polymer, Food, Metallurgy, Pharmabiology, and Industrial Chemistry technologies.
Ms. Alfaro has also previously worked for a boutique Intellectual Property law firm as a patent paralegal. She was responsible for filing and prosecuting patent applications in various fields, including pharmaceuticals, chemistry, chemical technology, biotechnology, food and agriculture, automobiles, and electronics.
At Federis, Ms. Alfaro’s main responsibilities include filing and prosecuting patent, utility model, and design applications. Ms. Alfaro prepares letters-advice to clients in relation to Office Actions issued by the Bureau of Patents, prepares and files responses to such Office Actions, and monitors deadlines.
Ms. Alfaro also prepares letters-advice to clients on annuity-related matters and attends to payment of patent annuities and design renewals. In addition, Ms. Alfaro conducts verification with the Bureau of Patents to ensure that the annuity particulars are correct.
Ms. Alfaro earned her degree in Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the Mapua University.
